Last August 23, 2010 the whole world was shocked by the hostage drama happened in the Luneta Grandstand Manila, Philippines. A tourist bus loaded with Hong Kong nationals (tourists) and a few Filipinos was hi-jacked by a dismissed police officer. The hostage drama took almost 12 hour stand off then end up in a tragic result. Few were release, 1 escape, a few survive and some are seriously injured, but 8 lost their lives. It sad to say it had to end that way and I can't blame the anger the Hong Kong nationals feels right now. With the way the authorities handled the situation you can't help but burst in anger. If only they handled it the right way maybe the outcome would be different. And maybe even if the outcome is still the same but because it was handled very well the anger would be lesser (I think).
If you would ask me whose to blame? I answered this question in one social site >(MyLot) and it goes like this, 1) The President, 2)Mayor Lim, 3) MPD/PNP, 4) Media.
Why the President? Head Of State, one word he can fix it.
Why Mayor Lim? He is the head of the city he should be there making moves and supervising the police but where is he at that time? By the way according to the news he's the one who gave the order to arrest the brother of the hostage taker.
Why the MPD/PNP? They have big liability of all, they are the one who will make the action. If you don't have knowledge and you don't have a heart disaster will happened. Last Aug. 23, 2010 the MPD are so stupid they tried to arrest the brother of the hostage taker in front of the media people, knowing that he (the hostage taker) might be watching and they even accused him of accessory to the crime. In Filipino term "pinersonal sila" and because of this the hostage taker was agitated and resort to violet reaction.
Why the Media? The Media is a weapon, good and bad. The Media in our country don't really know how to be cooperative in this kind of situation. They should help solved the problem but most of the time they create the problem. It's good to be updated but they should realize if they are helping or causing a problem. They should learn when to move forward and when to backout specially in this kind of situation.
(Everything I said in that site was my point of view.)
Now the Filipino people must learn to handle the anger of the Chinese nationals. I just hope that it would not last long and only time can heal the pain they feel right now. I know this is just an isolated case, it can happened in any country and maybe the outcome would be worst than ours but I pray this would be the last one in the whole world!
As a Filipino I want to extend my condolences to the Family of the victims and to the Chinese people. And to Mr. Jackie Chan... Thank You Very Much for your wonderful words and open-mindedness. And to this guy in the video, Mr. Andrew Philip I want to Thank him for his beautiful and wonderful message to all mankind. Please watch the video if you haven't seen it.
God Bless!
